About this project
The starting point
The garden had been left for years. Weeds and self-seeded trees had taken over, the paving was broken and lifting, and the fence was falling down. It is a situation we see often in older properties around Slough, Burnham, Farnham Common and Stoke Poges.
What we did
We cleared everything back to bare ground and removed all waste, so the client had nothing to deal with. New fencing went in first to set the boundaries. We then built a raised sleeper wall with a step up at the back, creating a second level for planting or seating. The main area was laid in grey Indian sandstone, a natural stone with gentle colour variation that suits both period and modern homes.
The finished space
A garden that could not be used is now a large, tidy patio with defined levels and smart boundaries. Sandstone and sleepers are a great value way to transform a family garden in Maidenhead, Cookham, Holyport and Bray.
