The benefits
No mowing, watering or feeding; a green lawn all year; no muddy paws or knees; and a tidy finish for gardens where real turf struggles, such as shady or heavily used spaces.
The trade-offs
It costs more up front than turf, gets warm in strong sun, and offers less for wildlife than a real lawn. Many people combine artificial grass with planting to balance this out.
Why installation matters
Cheap installs fail because of poor groundwork. We remove the old turf, lay a compacted free-draining sub-base, add a weed membrane and fix the edges securely, so the lawn stays flat and drains well.
